I just finished watching the preview for "Dark Girl" and this is truly a deep movie.
It talks about the tension of skin color that Blacks and specifically, "dark girls" feel when it comes to their skin color. This film talks about the hurt, the pain, and even the shame girls of color may feel when people (specifically inside the Black community) talk disparagingly of girls who aren't "light-skinned".
More importantly though, it talks about taking a stand for the beautiful skin that Blacks have. Based on what I saw from the preview, it’s more than just learning to accept the color of one’s skin, it learning to love it.
This film is positive, real, and a need to see.
